Sometimes there is an untested  legal argument.  In recent months Beverley won a decision to fill such a gap in her client’s favour.  She argued before the judge that her client should receive an unequal division of assets in her client’s favour using section 9 (1) (d) of the Family Law (Scotland) Act in a way previously unused.

Making law is not an every day occurrence but the sign of a committed lawyer to have on your side.

Abortion Test Case

One of  Beverley ‘s toughest cases was when her client wanted an abortion and her husband tried to stop her. But fighting the case up through the courts was almost easier than dealing with the World’s press and TV who besieged the office and phones looking for interviews.  When the time was right Beverley appeared on ‘News at Ten’ and dealt with the world wide media coverage because everyone had an opinion.

As ever in complex cases Beverley worked with a QC and won  every appeal until the case finished .

Child recovery from New Zealand

Many of Beverley’s clients are men and when a distraught  husband approached Bev about his missing child she knew she had a tough case. When he told Beverley his partner had taken their daughter to New Zealand and refused to come home it seemed impossible. But working with a local lawyer in New Zealand and using the Hague Convention Beverley not only recovered the child back from the other side of the world but reunited her with her father and achieved a good contact order from the Scottish court.
