Johnson Legal are pleased to announce that Hayley Mitchell has been appointed as a director to the board of Scottish charity Fathers Network Scotland.

Fathers Network Scotland seek to drive positive cultural change by inspiring organisations, communities and individuals to engage, support and empower men to be the fathers they want to be. Their current work includes the “How Are You, Dad?” campaign: an initiative supported by the Scottish Government where midwives and health visitors in Fife, North Lanarkshire, Lothian and Greater Glasgow will be trained to recognise postnatal paternal depression and help fathers to access support and also the Fathers Friendly school partnership.

Hayley says, “I am delighted to be involved with an organisation that exists to promote greater equality for parents. Children are a central focus of so much of my work and I truly believe that a better recognition of the role of the father is in the best interests of the child. Children are the ultimate beneficiaries of forwarding-thinking initiatives like shared parental leave and flexible working in every family so these are policies which I wholeheartedly support. Being father friendly is family friendly”

Beverley says “We have such a great understanding about the dynamics of relationship breakdowns, especially the impact that the fallout can have on the children. We often have to work hard to breakdown stereotypical views from both parents about what is expected in terms of their rights and responsibilities. With education and support from bodies like Fathers Network Scotland, barriers can be broken down to the benefit of Scotland’s children.”
